Hello, Thanks for consulting HCM.
All viral fevers, as
dengue, almost present the same way - like high grade fever, bone and muscle pains.
To rule out dengue we have dengue antigen test - which are positive from the second day. Dengue serology test become positive from 5-6 days onwards.
In any case, please try to take medicines for fever only (
paracetamol) - do not take and pain killers like
Ibuprofen or
Diclofenac - as these medication lowers down the
platelet count at a faster rate and to a lower level. Also try to take as much fluids as you can in any form - water, juices, soups...
Watch for red rashes on your body - if you happen to see any - please try to get hold a physician and get tested and verified, if its dengue.
The platelet count is not a marker to diagnose dengue fever at the initial level - as platelet tend to drop only after few days of fever and mostly when the fever is on the subsiding trend.
Recover soon.
Dr Sanjay.
