Suggest Treatment For Severe Breathing Trouble In An Elderly Person With Asthma

I am a 130 lb, 51 year old, fit female who had asthma as a child. Bouts of asthma occur every once in a while but it is put at bay soon. I have mild allergies during the allergy season, taking a small tablet to begin to work over time. I live in 4000 ft altitude. I have the spontaneous need to breathe quick and deep and then breathing becomes normal again. It usually happens when I am relaxed. This has happened over the past year. I am also approaching menopause. Is this normal?
