Suggest Treatment For Severe Bronchitis

I m 26 years old and a firefighter. The only medical problem I have is bronchitis. I was on a 2nd alarm fire two days ago and while at the fire had an intense headache. When I went to rehab my bp was 170/102. I felt fine other than the headache. I ve had plenty of sleep, rest, and fluids since then but this headache is still as bad as it was. It s on the right side of my head mainly in the upper neck and lower part of my head. Occasionally I ll feel pain around my ear. I took excedrin and ibu which seemed to help briefly. I m just curious as to what the cause may be.

Hello,

A headache one side, neck pain with occasional ear pain at your age with h/o bronchitis are 2 reasons

1. sinusitis -which can occur, most common in your occupation and already with bronchitis history the respiratory tract inflammation (reactivity increases) these lead to decrease clearing of dust and congestion in sinuses which is connected to ear also.

2. it may be musculoskeletal pain (trapezius muscle most common)due to excessive strain on lifting, bad position at sleep.

Hence I advise these simple measures
- nebulization with asthalin
- steam inhalation
- tab. myoril
- respiratory spirometry (enhances inhalation, exhalation) at least once daily
- proper hydration
- ice packs or heat packs at the neck level as frequently as possible.

These measures mostly will subside your pain. In case it is perisistant try to consult neuro physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
