Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I think I may have pneumonia. Has been on going for almost a month. I first thought it was bronchitis, which got better, but has worsened again. I have a history of COPD and RADS. I also have sleep apnea and use a C Pap. No fever to low grade. Coughing up clear mucous at times. Unable to exhale all air. I have no insurance and cannot go to see my doctor. Cannot afford to go to the ER. I am using albuterol nebs and rescue inhaler, which helps some, but I think I need antibiotics at this point. I know you cannot right a script for me, but I was thinking you may know of some other measure I could take to help with symptoms. I feel really tight in my chest and wheeze a lot. No history of heart problems, but my father and oldest brother died of heart disease. My brothe died at the age of 44 with massive MI after a catherization.
Drink fluids, but avoid caffeine and alcohol. Get plenty of rest. Take over-the-counter pain relievers to reduce inflammation, ease the pain, and lower your fever.
Use cough medicine, if your child is age 6 or older. Increase the humidity in your home or use a humidifier.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Monish De, Oncologist
