My dad who is 88 was very, very constipated for about a week. He went to the ER and they gave him a mineral oil enema and a cocktail of dr. pepper, apple juice and prune juice. He began cramping very badly and has been in the bathroom almost constantly for the past 36 hours. He has had 3 Immodium capsules today. He has been drinking some water, and had some chicken broth last evening. Part of me thinks he is being a baby about the whole thing, but he thinks something needs to be done. Any advice? He does not have a fever. Thanks!
