Suggest Treatment For Severe Constipation Problem

Hi , I gave birth 5 months ago , having a vaginal delivery with forceps . Ever since I have had constipation, it's almost like I can't quite push the same way either. I was taking magnesium to soften my stool but a couple of days ago it stopped working and now have severe constipation again. Is there a reason why it stopped working? Or any suggestions that. May help
