Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a sharp pain in my chest everytime I take a deep breath. My ECG is Normal. BP is 120/80. I have had a cough with yellow expectoration for the past 15 days. My doc advised me to undergo a cxr and cbc with esr. My xray was fine. ESR is 80. Should I be worried? I shall be seeing my doc this evening, but the suspense is killing me.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe cough and chest pain . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like COPD , bronchitis , acid reflux or angina . You have high ESR which is indication of infection in your body. If there is shortness of breath , dizziness and fatigue then consult cardiologist without any delay . If there is no such symptoms then consult chest specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray , blood test and physical examination . Doctor may prescribe steroids , anti histamine , antibiotics along with anti inflammatory . For now take steam and do warm saline gargles .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
