Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Excess Mucus In The Throat

I have a dry cough that I have had for about 2 weeks, mucus in throat, feel like draining in back of throat. I have taken Mucinex sinus max. Suggestion for a pharmacist is to try Zyrtec. Think it sounds more like allergies rather than a cold? Just need some relief from coughing.

Hi,
Thanks for query to health care magic.
According to your history mentioned in the query , it seems that you are having allergic bronchitis .
When such patient visit to me at my clinic I simply advise them to take steam inhalation .
Some bronchodilator ( like salbutamol or terbutalin ) .
Some anti allergic medicine also help .
But this is a prescription medicine , so please consult some primary care physician and get his opinion.
Hope this will be useful information for you .
