Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Nasal Congestion In A Child

Hello Doctor, My baby is 2yr old n he is having too much cough since last 2-3dys.he has nasal congestion n discharge of yellow color.i started with antibiotic augmentin syrup for 3dys.now 3 dys git complete today.n still his voice is not clear m he jave mch coughing frequently. Shall I continue antibiotic fr more two day n can I start with levolin syrup? His weight is 10 kg.i gave maxtra syrp also. Please advise

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe cough and nasal congestion in a child which is due to upper respiratory tract infection . The symptoms can also occur due to sinusitis . You should go for steam inhalation on daily basis along with nasal vaporizers. You should put xylomist nasal drops to prevent congestion. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment as per diagnosis. Drink warm water with pinch of turmeric powder and one spoon of honey in it . Also take steam several times a day . Take decongestant nasal sprays containing mucinex for instant relief. Take diet rich in vitamin C. Take combination of Livofloxacin along with Levocetrizine.
