Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Runny Nose In A Toddler

My 18 month old daughter has a runny nose and bad cough for about 4 months now. Nothing seem to work....antibiotics, cough meds, nebulizer (with duolin and pulmicort)....tried them ALL...but the cough doesnt go away! What is left to do? Because nobody in the house is getting much sleep for the past 4 months. We all are exhausted.

Hi,

Cough persisting for 4 months in a toddler need detailed evaluation. Possibilities are unusual infection like tuberculosis or pertussis, allergic conditions like asthma or allergic rhinitis. Kindly discuss with your pediatrician or a pediatric pulmonologist. We need to get few investigations including a chest X-ray, mantoux test, blood count, ESR, and eosnophil count. Depending on initial reports and response to treatment, we can proceed further.
