Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good morning doctor,I am having 6months old baby boy,he is having caugh with flum already I have conssulted to doctor but caugh is not getting controlled.doctor has given caugh syrup with the combination of guiphensin, ambroxol, terbutaline and menthol.please suggest me can i use corex dx to my baby or please suggest me appropriate medication
The cough syrup prescribed is more appropriate for relieving or removing excess secretion from the lungs. In such a small baby it is unlikely to be beneficial unless there is bronchoconstriction (breathing difficulty). It is better to give a drug that suppresses cough reaction like codein or dextromethorphan. So, Corex may be a better option.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar
