Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough That Brings Up Excessive Sputum
Today I began coughing this morning, by the end of the day, the cough became very productive. Yellow sputum with a ting of red. When I lay down I begin wheezing and ultimately begin coughing and the sputum come out in large amounts. My sinuses appear mostly clear, occasionally getting a little stuff but mostly clear. The sputum seems to gather at the base of my throat and makes it difficult to breath. Any suggestions?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe cough that brings up excessive sputum . Well the symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition like viral infection , chest infection , smoking can also cause such symptoms or acid reflux. .
I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and blood test . Doctor may prescribe anti bacterial ( amoxicillin ) , anti viral ( acyclovir ) , decongestant and anti histamine .
For now drink glass of warm water with honey and ginger in it . Doctor may also refer you to chest specialist for chest infection. Tkae steam twice a day . Quit smoking if you hyave smoking habit .
