Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough With Hives On The Body

My son (13) has been fighting a bad cough that became productive. We took him to Urgent Care on Monday and they said he has a sinus infection. He was prescribed Benzonatate, Prednisone, and Azithromycin. He began the Azithromycin and Benzonatate on Monday and the Prednisone on Tuesday. Tonight he broke out in hives all over his body. He has 2 days left on the Azithromycin and 1 left on the Prednisone. The Benzonatate is to be as needed. Am I able to give him Benedryl to help with the hives? I wasn t sure due to the other meds he is on. Should I stop any/all of the meds?

Hello,
I just read your query. The hives all over body are due to some allergic reaction. The reaction might be due to any medicine or might due to some food. But if its medicinal reaction then it should happen after first dosage.
* For now you can give him anti allergic tablet like tab. levocetrizine. Give him one tablet stat only.
If he is feeling itching and irritation then you can apply lactocalamine lotion over body as it will have soothing effect on the body for time being.
* This medicine will help him,then you can consult your physician regarding allergic reaction.
