Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I inhaled and breathed a piece of a French fry to the back of my throat. I had terrible coughing, then my throat closed up and I couldn t get my breath through my mouth or nose. What causes this and how do I make sure it doesn t happen again. Scared the hell out of me! My co-worker said I was turning blue and was ready to do the Heimlech (sp) on me.
The symptoms are due to minor irritation caused by fry. It is just an inflammatory reaction and will settle by itself without definite treatment. As a first line management you can do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
