Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has been on hospice for a year because of CHF but is holding steady. He has not been treated for his type 2 diabetes since leaving the hospital in November of 2015. Hospice policy is to not deny the patient anything and this patient is a sweet addict.. His fasting numbers are around 385 and after his normal meal the numbers have been as high as 485. The nurses tell me that it takes years for serious side affects to show up in diabetics but I am worried. Please give me your opinion..
Diabetes is a common disease caused by poor blood sugar control by insulin. The best way is give insulin subcutaneously or intravenously depending on the severity of he disease. Oral hypoglycemics are used after getting control by insulin. Close follow up is very necessary by regular check ups.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
