Suggest Treatment For Severe Diarrhea

I am a home health nurse. I have a pt that finished a 2 week round of capecitabine last week. He continues to have SEVERE diarrhea. (7-10 times daily) Lomotil and Imodium have been ineffective. He returns for his next dose of chemo this week, and will restart the capecitabine. Any suggestions?

Hi, 7 to 10 times of diarrhea in a day whatever may be the cause may be drug induced or infective, but it should be treated promptly before patient go in hypovolemic shock ( tachycardia, hypotension, rapid breathing, giddiness, fever etc)
So he should be given injectable antibiotics with fluid and electrolyte replacement therapy.
I don't think so you should wait for more time, immediately carry patient to the nearest hospital, forget about the next chemotherapy dose.
