Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have over the past year: had 2 episodes of the room spinning when I went to lie down, and it continued when lying flat. 1 episode yesterday when I went to lie down that I felt funny , similar to being lightheaded. 1 episode a month ago where I was working at my desk and apparently blacked out . I felt no symptoms prior and only recall walking into my office and then waking up in my chair. I must have had my head down as when I was coming out of it I recall seeing the picture on my wall-and it looked sideways. I felt very tired earlier in the day and felt funny for at least an hour afterwards. Now I do have a history of vasovagal syncope on and off x 20 years; but I always have symtoms with that. This was different and I have never had the room spin . ??
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe dizziness . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like migraines , head injury , certain medications and due to cervical spondylosis , middle ear infection or fluid in middle ear . But in your case the symptoms can also be due to the fluoxetine . I would suggest you to consult your doctor and discuss the condition with him /her . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute . If condition doesn't get well then consult ENT specialist . Doctor will examine with otoscope , order CT scan posturography , rotatory chair test and prong test . Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , sedatives , antibiotics and recommend vertibular therapy and physical therapy . For now i would like to suggest you some home remedies drink green tea with ginger thrice a day and drink lots of fluids like juices and water .
