General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Your daughter has ocassional itching over the scar of a dog bite, It can be due to possible scar condition called scar- where it overgrows to form a thick scar. If there is no such thickening till now - - Avoid itching at the site, for itching stimulates keloid formation. - Apply steroid ointment , If it does not stop itching,& starts thickening, injecting steroid at the scar site/ excision of keloid ( by external beam radio therapy/ Cryotherapy) is the last resort for it. consult a surgeon for that. Thanks.
