Suggest Treatment For Severe Dry Mouth While On Prilosec
I have a dry mouth and thought it was possibly acidic as well. I took 7 days of prilosec and it did seem to help quite a bit; however my stomach started to hurt a little so I have skipped two days of prilosec and now feel like my mouth is really dry again. I don't want to take a PPI everyday but don't know why my mouth feels so dry. Any thoughts? I am not overweight, do not take any medications (outside of Prilosec recently). I have also had a watery eye (only one) for the past few months but seems to have gotten better. Sjogrens?
As per your complain Dry mouth is not a common side effect of Prilosec intake and as it contains active ingredient Omeprazole, it seems that dry mouth can occur after prolonged and continuous intake of Omeprazole... It can be however due to dehydration or reduced water intake or any other factors.. Watery eye is not a sign of Sjogrens Syndrome as in Sjogrens Syndrome eyes gets dry and not teary.. It can be due to mild infection in eye.. I would suggest you to drink plenty of water, suck sugarfess chewing gum and suck tart candies to improve saliva flow and reduce dry mouth.. Avoid gargle with regular mouthwash as it has drying effect in mouth.. For tears in eye consult a local Physician or Opthalmologist and get evaluated and antibiotic eye drops can be given for relief..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
