Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been suffering from a very dry mouth, to the point it feels like cotton candy, I can't talk to my customers. This only happens every once in a while. what could be the cause? I have used Biotene, gum and lozenges.
It seems that you have a severe dry mouth which in medical terms is known as Xerostomia.. Dry mouth is not a disease in itself but always occurs due to some other underlying cause or disease.. So first of all you need to get the exact cause of dry mouth ruled out.. The common causes are dehydration, diabetes, oral infection like thrush, salivary gland disorders, side effects of medication, Sjogren's syndrome etc.. For now you can start instilling mouth lubricating gels like Oralgel and use artificial saliva drops.. You can also be advised medication like Pilocarpine as it help in stimulating saliva flow..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
