I have an acute advanced ear infection ( swimmers ear) and have severe pain. My ear is completely swollen shut, lymph nodes are swollen and I can feel tightness of infection all around the outside of my ear, including my cheek and back of my ear area. Can t get into doctor until the morning. What can I do to help tonight? Can I use vigamox eye drops I have in medicine cabinet? Is this dangerous or just very painful but not serious?
Hi, It seems that you might be having acute otitis externa giving rise infection with cellulitis. It requires urgent consultation of ENT specialist. At present you can put vigamox drops. Take anti inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen for pain and inflammation. You might require one course of antibiotic medicine for 5-7 days. Ok and take care.
