Suggest Treatment For Severe Ear Pain Caused By An Infection

I keep getting the feeling of electrical shocks in the back right side of my head. My Dr said it was because I have a sinus and ear infection. But my ear don't hurt and I've had both before and never had this before. Should I be concerned and go to the er?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe ear pain caused by an infection which is because of infection of upper respiratory track infection that has spread to ear through Eustachian tube. It could be due to ear wax accumulation and fungal infection in ear. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. You should go for otoscopic examination. If it is due to trigeminal neuralgia then you should take medicines like Gabapentin, amytriptyline. Take antibiotic along with anti-inflammatory medication. Apply dry warm compresses on external ear and keep your ear covered while bathing . Put ciplox or gatiflox ear drops.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
