Suggest Treatment For Severe Ear Pain

I've had flu like systems for several days. All of a sudden last night I woke up and had really bad ear pain. I goggled my systems and it seems as if I have an ear infection now. It's been hurting all day and I need to go out of town for work tomorrow and I'm hoping that the plane doesn't make my ear pain worse. Please help

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if you have earache along with a recent history of having ear infection, the most probable cause of ear ache seems to be ear infection..
As the ears and throat are connected via Eustachian tube cold and phlegm can lead to infection communicating to ear..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and an Otoscopic examination can help in diagnosis and treatment can be advised accordingly..
You can be advised to take a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestant nasal sprays and steam inhalations..
Antibiotic and analgesic eardrops can be advised..
You should also avoid excessive water exposure like Swimming..
Avoid picking the ears..
