Suggest Treatment For Severe Fever In A 10 Month Old Baby
Hi, My son is 10 months old and he weighs 7.8 all of a sudden he caught fever from yesterday evening. Now its 5am and his temperature is at 100.4. I also wiped his full body with cold water twice to reduce temp. I have given 3 dose of 1.5 ml of calpol till now.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your son is having symptoms of severe fever which is a sign of viral or bacterial infection. It seems to be due to poor and compromised immunity of body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to give your daughter short course of antibiotics such as Amoxicillin or azithromycin for 5-7 days along with antihistamine such as Chlorpheniramine. You should use room humidifier and vapor rub that will give benefits to your child. Steam inhalation is very effective but you have to be very careful while giving it to your child. Take diet rich in vitamin B12. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. Get blood and urine test done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antiviral medications.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
