Suggest Treatment For Severe Fever In A Child

I was at the hospital at 1:30 am because my son was running a very high fever. He felt very hot when I took him out of his bed. My thermometer wasn t working so I rushed him straight to the ER where they took it and it was 103.6- at 2:17 am they gave him Tylenol. At 3:17am they gave him motrin because I had only given him motrin at 6:20pm the night before (no Tylenol until they administered). They told me to alternate between Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours so as not to O.D. I automatically issued that it was OK to give him one or the other every 4 hours since their purpose was pretty much the same (to bring down fever). So like an IDIOT, I have him another dose of motrin at 8am and then another at 12noon. (First was 5 hours after initial and then the 2nd was 4 hours after the previous). I didnt have tylenol to give him so i pretty much substituded the tylenol doses with motrin. I am so scared right now. I didnt realize what I had done until after the 2nd dose. So he had all of this motrin within a 9 hour period. The two doses I gave him were 1.875ml each and I m unsure what the hospital have him. Will my son be OK or should I take him to the doctor? We re the doses far enough apart to where it won t hurt him? If it helps, my son is 29.1 pounds and is 17 months old and 33.5 tall.

Over dosage of tylenol and mortin may cause some illness. But dont worry. He needs to be monitored for 24 hrs.if he develops any health complication need to be treated symptomatically.Other wise no need to worry.all anti pyretics has to be given every 4th hrly.If the temperature is very high then u have to go for rectal suppository.
