Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am suffering from severe groin pain in the front area of the groin when I try to walk. It is excruciating. Once I am up and walking it eases off a bit but does not go away. I am fine upon sitting or lying but I experience severe pain when I try to move either leg forward or backward.
Based on the location and the nature of the pain, it seems like you have injured the hip flexor. This can happen when the muscles of the illiopsoas are spasmed. A spasm can happen when one plays football or has a running injury. This may happen with a sudden movement or a kicking movement.
Most people find the following useful for groin strain - Resting the area and avoiding playing any sport Icing or warming the area for about 2 to 4 mins every hour to help with the flexibility Gentle massage and movement of the joint to help mobilise the muscle and help prevent further strain
Some people may find over the counter NSAIDs useful for this as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
