Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have severe gynecomastia. I have had it since I was a teenager. I was always ashamed, it s now a big lump in my left chest. I have PPO blue cross blue shield of Alabama I ve had a mammogram to determine what it was. I live in Pensacola fl. Where do I start to get it cured. I ve been told a plastic surgeon can do it and be covered by insurance, but some say general practioner. Please help me in the right direction. Thanks in advance Drs
A general physician will prescribe medications that may or may not help. If this is a lump then it should be dealt with by a surgeon, who will first ascertain what type of cells/lump it is. Once that is done, excision of the lump can be undertaken.
Best wishes
