I am 61 and have been experiencing thinning .falling out hair in the last three months.. lost a lot of volume. now I am spotting .. vaginal spotting.. very light last week I saw my dr because a lady cut my hair andit was coming out and sticking to her hands and so on and she said holy cow you need to see a dr. the dr said are you spotting and I said no. murphy s law.. now I am. he sent me to lab for some blood work and will see me again when he gets results. should I call him about the spotting or wait a few weeks and tell him when I go back for follow up? thank you for your attention.
Hair loss and thinning can be caused by anemia, that's why your doctor requested blood tests, and asked if you are spotting. If you are spotting that may be the cause. Other causes include hypothyroidism, lack of some nutrients in the diet or the menopause itself, and lack of estrogen, usually you may have hair changes, like loss and thinning. Wait for the results of your exams and go to the doctor.
I am sure he will help you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. María Miquilarena
