Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache And Bad Liver Test Results
My 21 year old nephew is suffering from headaches, leg pain, does not want to eat, and his liver tests are off the charts. He does not drink or do drugs, maybe took some protein shakes once in a while because he was an athlete in high school, but nothing else. He did contract lymes disease when he was about 17 years old; however the doctor did a blood test last week said it came back negative? At this point his doctor is telling him there is nothing he can do, but he keeps getting worse, this is very frustrating! Any thoughts...
Abnormal liver enzyme results can in some cases, be associated with conditions that can cause the symptoms that he is experiencing.
He would need the full panel of liver tests including testing for the hepatitis viruses. Imaging of the liver, gallblader and pancreas may also be needed by ultrasound or ct.
He should also consider seeing a gastroenterologist, a doctor who specializes in the gastrointestinal tract, for an opinion.
I hope this helps
