Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache With Numbness In Right Arm

My sister who is 54 in the last two weeks has experienced horrific headaches in the base of her skull. These happen 3 or 4 at a time and they go away soon. These are very close together . She experiences some numbing down her right arm at the time of her headache..She is on medicine for her hypertension and high cholesterol for many years. Do you know what this could be? These headaches were unlike anything she ever experienced in her life...incredibly debilitating... Cyndie

hello
well the intensity and location of the headaches ( at the base ) suggests 3 possibilities --

(1) Migraine
(2) Cervical Spondolysis ( numbness in right arm may be related to this )
(3) Brain Tumour

i would suggest you to consult a neurologist who would probably ask you to get the following investigations done for making out a precise diagnosis --

(1) EEG i.e electroencephalography
(2) XRay of cervical spine
(3) CT / MRI of brain

once the precise diagnosis is made, appropriate treatment can be started so plz dont get worried and visit a nearby neurologist
best wishes n regards..
