Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 19 year old daughter has been suffering from headaches for the last couple of years. They have gotten more frequent in the last 6 months. She typically wakes up with them, almost daily. She is a healthy young lady weighs in at 115lbs & is 5 6 . She eats well and exercises 4 to 5 times a week. She has been on Yaz for the last 3 years. Could Yaz be at the core of these headaches? Thank you! Very concerned mom
hi thank you for asking your concern madam and welcome to HCM. if headache is one sided, severe during episodes, associated with nauseavomiting and burning eyes in light during episode then it is most likely migraine. migraine is one of the harmful side effect of hormonal contraceptives. tablets should be stopped if migraine develops. you should consult your doctor for this so as to decide about stopping Yaz or replacing it and may need treatment for headche. if Yaz is stopped then it is more likely that headache will relieve. if not treatment for migraine need to be taken. waking in night itself is a red flag of headache and i strongly suggest to visit consultant. i hope i answered your concern if you feel any doubt please ask us regards dr. Abhijit
