General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would like to suggest some tests:

1. Head CT
2. EEG
3. Fasting Blood Sugar
4. Complete Blood Tests

Now, if all the above tests come normal, then only, start the below treatment.

I would suggest these treatments:

1. Sumatriptan: 50 mg orally once a day for 4 weeks.

I strongly suggest as he already took many medicines but not satisfied, he should be re-evaluated thoroughly and then Migraine can be established.

If all the tests come normal, then, only he can start the above treatment.

I suggested the above test for any other different conditions other than migraine. If all the tests are normal, we can consider him to have a migraine.

Also, please ask him to avoid triggers. Common migraine triggers include:

Caffeine (either using too much or cutting back on regular use). Certain foods and beverages, including those that contain tyramine (aged cheeses and meats, fermented beverages); sulfites (preserved foods, wines); and monosodium glutamate (MSG), a common flavor enhancer.

Stress, or relief from stress. Hormone levels (menstrual cycles, hormone-containing medication such as birth control pills or estrogen).

Lack of sleep or disrupted sleep patterns, Travel or changes in weather or altitude, Overuse of pain-relieving medications.

Please post the results here also. A doctor may follow you up and can give the next course of treatment if necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
