Hello, I have had Gerd related issues for quite some time. Recently i had incredibly bad heartburn. It went away in about an hour. I woke up this morning after this and my back is killing me and have felt tired all day. My legs also feel super weak and it has not gone away all day. Is there something that is causing this? Im 26 Male
Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. Sever hear burn and Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is caused due to dysfunction of muscle at the bottom of the esophagus. You need to take following medications to control this condition: 1. Liquid antacids. 2. H2 blockers like famotidine. 3. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) like pantoprazole. Do not lie down after the meal as gravity plays a role in controlling the symptoms. Take small meals at frequent intervals as large meal would put more pressure on esophagus. Avoid fats, onions, chocolate and alcohol in your diet. Reduce weight as excess abdominal fat puts pressure on the stomach. Hope this finds you to help to overcome your condition. All the best.
