Suggest Treatment For Severe Heartburn

I have had crohns disease since 1983, & 1 bowel recection surgery back in the 90 s. My disease has been back & forth between active & in remission over the years. In my most recent scope 2 months ago, I was told the disease was not visible in my small bowel. However, I have been having severe pain in the mid to high area of my abdomen. Feels like really bad gut rot or heartburn. I can get temporary relief from pepto bismol, but doesn t last. I am having a scope again tomorrow (upper, not colonoscopy), but I m hoping you may have some ideas? This is really worrying me

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

In the presentation of severe heart burn, I suspect acute gastritis.

Till you get the repeat scopy, I suggest to get proton pump inhibitor as Omeprazole or Pantoprazole from the chemist for primary relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
