Suggest Treatment For Severe High BP

I am a New Nurse in New State have been having higher blood pressures since I arrived. Today s BP is 180/113 and has been hovering at these higher readings now for 4 weeks. I at first thought I was adjusting to the new climate and altitude, now over 6600 feet, when I was around about 1000 ft. before. I am overweight, and if I have put on weight recently it is from the Stress of moving to a new state for work. I am honestly stressed, but feel that this would resolve once I am able to get my Spouse and Dog out here to join me. Please understand that I am hoping it resolves, but I know I need to get a Dr., but I am hoping it won t cause me to lose my job...

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

High blood pressure should not be a reason for job loss since it is a very common.

You are correct in stating that you should see a doctor because it is stage 2 high blood pressure.
Both readings are in the highest stage.

Though stress can contribute, it should not send it to this level.

In addition to medication, diet changes ( DASH diet) and exercise may help.

I hope this helps
