Suggest Treatment For Severe Hip Pain

My husbands needs hip surgery he has been told this by more than one ortho. He has no cartilage left in his hips the last visit to the ortho about 6 months ago they said they didn t now how he was still walking. But here is the problem. He is 5 3 and weight 325 they say he can t have hip surgery until he gets his weight down even tho he can t exercise do to his hips. 2nd catch our insurance want pay for any type of weight loss surgery even after 2 appeals. He has lost about 40 pounds they state that is not enough. Soon my husband will be not able to walk he is almost to that point now. He is on the waiting list for disabled threw the state but that could take another year they say. How can I help my husband he is in pain all the time and are we doing everything we can be? Or is there something more we could be doing to make this happen?
