Suggest Treatment For Severe Itchiness On The Eye

Hello, about 30 minutes ago I had a sharp itch in my right eye which has lasted about 20 minutes. I tried to itch it to make it go away and it has seemed to work. However, there is some red inflamed skin which has arrived next to my tear duct. It looks it it should belong under my skin. Like its not supposed to be showing? It s not discomforting unless I look far to the left. I m just wondering if it s a serious problem or something that can wait to see a doctor on a weekday? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The inflamed area is likely due to the itchy and allergy.

The eye can also become swollen in response to itchy like other areas of the body.
An antihistamine would help with this reaction but you should still see your doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps
