Suggest Treatment For Severe Itching In A Person With Thyroid Disorder
My 37 year old son has been diagnosed with hyperthyroid syndrome. He is on Propanepolol for now. He s had ultrasound and will get the results tomorrow and possible more medication. Graves does not run in my family or his fathers so he must have a viral or baterical form... As most hyperthyroid patients he itches so so much and is irritible as little sleep. Is there anything he can do at home to soothe the itching...at least to get some sleep.... pine tar soap, coconut oil, very hot or cold showers, gold bond cream???? Maybe the doctor will give cortisoine medications tomorrow. I hope so, but what is something he can do now.
I would prescribe Atarax 50mg one tablet at bedtime, that will help him about his itching and sleeplessness until the hyperthyroidism can be controlled.
No special diet is required; however, he should avoids herbal supplements and sushi that contains seaweed.
Due to decreased tolerance to heat, he should avoid hot showers.
All the best!
