Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 53 year old female. Have suffered extreme mirror joint pain in almost all joints. Started pain 15 years ago in my hips. Very difficult to walk, stairs are extreme pain. I can not sleep due to hip and upper thigh pain. Particular stiff in the am. Fatigue. In the past year have noticed intense pain when touching or rubbing sore muscle/tendon areas. Lumps all around joints. Will touch a small hard pea sized pellet in between the larger softer lumps. The pea size pellet is black out drop to your knees radiating pain that shoots to surrounding areas. The pain after touch, or pressure, will remain painful for several hours. I recently had pain, and sever muscle contraction/spasms in my stomach and upper abs. Upon touch, I came across the same lumps and hard painful pellets in these areas. Do you have any idea what may be causing this pain? What type of specialist should I see to further investigate? My PC thought it was part of fibromyalgia, which has been the diagnosis for the past 5 years. It is getting worse. I thought it could be something else. Thank you.
If not relieved then possibility of polyarthritis needs to be considered
Rheumatoid arthritis may involve small joints and early morning stiffness in joints, do you have such complain? Ankylosing spondylitis typically involve spine and hips with other large joint also. There is reduced chest function in this disease. Stiffness in spine is increased do you have such stiffness in spine?
When such patients come to our hospital I advise them blood test like RA factor, ACCP, ESR, complete blood count, HLA B27
You should consult orthopaedic doctor or rheumatologist.
