Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have severe joint pain all over. My left knee is swollen, it feel like a constant Charlie horse in the back of my knee and lower leg and my feet hurt when I walk, my elbows, hands and fingers hurt. I am always tire. I force myself to keep moving but getting harder. This has been going on for weeks. I do have hypothyroidism and vitamin D deficiency. Should I see a doctor now?
Severe pain in joints is highly suggestive of arthritis. I would suggest you see a rheumatologist as he will do the physical examination as well as take clinical history which is necessary to know the underlying cause. Along with this, he will advise some blood workup and some imaging studies which are important for making a diagnosis.
I would suggest you take ibuprofen for the pain until you visit the doctor and get all the tests done. Once the results come and a diagnosis is made and further treatment will be adviced, which will help to slow down the progression of the disease and also provide pain relief. You can later meet a physiotherapist as well as also do some regular exercises which will help a lot in the management of stiffness and pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
