As this pain is due to reduced joint space leading to compression over the internal structures of the knee joint and due to inflammation there is pain
I will advise you to do exercises which helps improve the muscle Strength and improve the joint space.
Exercises include - static quadriceps, static hamstring, straight leg raise and ankle toe movements. Also for improving the muscle and joint stability using a balance board training will be of help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
