Suggest Treatment For Severe Left Sided Abdominal Pain
Hi doctor. I have been having pain on the left side of my abdomen for about three weeks now. I also occasionally have pain on the right side, but very sparcely. It seems to be right below my ribs and just above my belly button everytime. Along with this, I have had one account of bright red blood flowing from my anus when I went to the bathroom. It has only happened once though, and about a week ago. And the last thing is the fact that I seem to be losing weight while eating normal meals. It s not a cause for consern yet, but I just had to mention it. Thanks
First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, you need to have an urgent ultrasound abdomen as well as stool analysis and for stool examination for occult blood.
Any intestinal pathology or polyp should also be ruled out. If weight loss persists, tumor markers, CT abdomen may be needed alongwith upper and lower gastric endoscopies.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
