Suggest Treatment For Severe Leg And Ankle Pain After Taking Levofloxacin

I took Levofloxacin 750 mg for a sinus infection. really bad Upon taking one pill my legs started to hurt really bad. So I stopped upon doctor advice but my knees and legs have not been the same. My knees hurt all the time, my ankles creak and I am having trouble sleeping due to the pain. Not sure if I need to go to my regular doctor or my ortho.

Hello,

Because your history does not provide the age and the sex if you are a young female the problem may be because of injuries to tendon or even sometimes tendon rupture too. I think you must take rest and also visit an orthopedic expert for further evaluation. You also must take extra fluids to keep yourself rehydrated. Fluoroquinolones have side effects the levofloxacin also comes under the same group of salts. My opinion will be visiting an orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muzaffer Hussain Parray
