Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I injured myself at work about 14 months ago. It only got better when I didn t have to stand on my feet all day but I could always pinpoint where the pain was as if it never went away and then something happened last night and now it hurts again. It is at my right hip area. A coworker suggested I had injured my sciatic nerve because he had a similar injury from performing a similar task, which was akwardly jumping down from a concrete form (I work in the construction industry.)
It is possible that you injured a structure in the area. The sciatic nerve arises from nerves in the lower back and passes through an area in the gluteal region down to the thigh.
It can be associated with hip pain in some persons, there are other possible symptoms as well eg back pain, numbness or other altered sensation, weakness.
Imaging of the spine would help determine if there are any nerve issues.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
