Suggest Treatment For Severe Leg Cramps

I have such severe leg cramps I sometimes fall to the floor screaming in agony. Today being one of those times. I once heard that artificial sweeteners could be a cause. I drink water all day. I get plenty of potassium and magnesium, but I do consume a lot of the sweeteners. 15-20 packets a day in iced decaf. coffee. Is it possible that sweeteners cause my cramps?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As the potassium and magnesium intake is plenty, its deficiency is ruled out and second most striking possibility would be high blood sugar causing secondary nerve related issues of neuralgia and others via high intake of sweeteners. Kindly get a fasting blood sugar with HbA1c, serum sodium levels for best evaluation and management ahead.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
