Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Severe pain lower back, right where it meets buttock on right side for 3 days now. Worse when sitting in a regular chair, not so bad when feet propped up or lying down. Walking is ok, only little pain. Using ice and tylenol, but pain tonight is worse. Is it time to go to doctor?
Hi The treatment of low back pain depends on the underlying cause. Most probable causes are osteoarthritis/degenerative disc disease, radiculopathy and bone metastasis of an abdominal cancer.I will suggest you get an abdominal CT scan or MRI to evaluate both you abdominal organs and the lumbar vertebrae. Treatment options for low back pain however are: -Pain/antiinflammatory medications like paracetamol and ibuprofen -Steroid infiltration occasionally -Myorelaxants like miorel -Physiotherapy -Neurosurgery I will suggest you see a Rheumatologist who is an expert in this domain to evaluate you and chose the best treatment option if the pains should persist. You made try the first 3 options and only see the Specialist if no relief. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
