I suffer severe migraines, but this pain is different. it's a very sharp pain on the right side of my head and every time i open my mouth i get a stabbing pain. I've never had this before, i also have a migraine and its lasted 3 days and now this is happening. Do you know what it means?
Thank you for your question on HCM! I appreciate your concern.
Your symptoms seem to be related to trigeminal neuralgia, an inflammation of the trigeminal nerve. The pain is like electric shock and lasts for seconds.
Another diagnosis to consider would be a temporal arteritis, but the pain would last longer.
I would recommend you to consult with a neurologist, perform a blood test for inflammation. A brain MRI would be necessary to exclude other intracranial lesions causing mimicking this clinical scenario.
Hope to have been helpful!
