I am a 79 year old male and I am recovering from shingles in the L2 dermatome after 4 wks. I had the vaccine in 2007. Is it possible that I Am now developing a new outbreak in T4-5? I have severe deep muscle pain in my left pectoral but no rash yet. Bill Foley

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Of course, there is a possibility of developing shingles in T4-T5. Your symptoms are those of the beginning and soon you will have rash.

Take acyclovir tablets as soon as possible to fight the viral infection and not to let it spread further. Also, acyclovir ointment over it can be used. Use cetirizine for itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
