Suggest Treatment For Severe Muscle Pain In The Arms While On Crestor
After taking 10 mg/day dose of Crestor for many years. I recently started with muscle pain in my arm. I discontinued use of the Crestor about 1 week ago. The pain is now less severe, but still having some pain. How long does it take for this side effect to go away completely?
Lipid-lowering drugs can cause inflammation of muscles causing pain. Luckily the side effects is reversible. We advise to check muscle enzyme called CPK to confirm. Once stopped the problem goes away. The duration depends, many people get relief with in few days, while for other may take few weeks.
I would also recommend taking a vitamin D supplement, and multivitamins along with it. Avoid dehydration.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
