General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
First try to exclude some basic causes of neck pain in young ages. Muscle pull, improper posture while sitting or driving, prolonged use of computers with improper posture, all of these can lead to neck pain.
You can give him ibuprofen 500mg available OTC for pain relief with some warm compresses and topical gels of Diclofenac for symptomatic relief.
Considering his age you must take him to an orthopedic first who will refer to a neurologist if needed. Please do not delay, earlier you treat the cause the better is the outcome.
